It is on page 166 in Newcomb’s Wildflowers.

Common name Flowering Dogwood. Scientific name: Cornus florida L.

Corolla: 4 separate petals.

Calyx: 4 fused sepals.

Adroecium: 4 separate stamen.

Gynoecium type: syncarpous (and # of carpels = 2)

Ovules are two per carpel.

Flower type/ovary position: epigynous

Flower symmetry: actinomorphic (regular).
